At the beginning of this novel, I write that it's based on actual events, and it is.

When I was in college, I created a calendar, then a language, then a kingdom. I declared myself king of said kingdom. I handed out titles to my friends and my friends' friends.

Much of what's in this book (barring the wizard, since I don't know any wizards) is inspired by the choices that certain real people made. After many revisions and years of rewrites, all the characters have been entirely fictionalized, but the novel wouldn't be what it is without those people I knew in college.

The cover art is by Jerry Minor, aka Jerantino. Some of his vast gallery can be seen on DeviantArt.
